Lucy Dangerfield is a librarian for the Ivywood Public Library.  She lives with her four cats.   She loves her life just fine being the introvert that she is.  All she needs is a good Elijah Riley Mystery to read.   Her parents died in a car accident when she was seventeen leaving her in the care of her eccentric great-aunt, Agnes Dangerfield.  She preferred her introverted ways hiding among her books with her four mischievous cats until Colt McCallister moved in next door.  The new vet in town has four handsome friends.  They form a crew; one big, happy family that Lucy hasn’t had in a very long time.  After Aggie catnaps Jasper, she takes him to Colt for a checkup, pretending he’s her cat so she can prompt Colt to ask Lucy on a date.  Her scheme works but everyone in Ivywood isn’t so happy about the new budding relationship between Colt and Lucy.  Then Mr. Hobs, a retired gentleman living in a house behind Lucy's  whose daily routines can be set by your watch isn't seen for a week.  Something strange is happening with Mr. Hobs and Lucy is worried.  Mr. Hammer, their neighbor, Mr. Hobs, best friend demands to see him but Audra Hobs refuses him.  Mr. Hammer is found dead at the bottom of the steps to the basement of his home.  An intruder breaks into her house but Lucy is able to fight him off.   She’s left battered and bruised but she’s still curious about what is going on in the Hobs’ house.  Her aunt’s neighbor Teddy is growing increasingly controlling of her aunt, a concern for Lucy. Then all four tires on her Jeep are slit.  The mysteries at the Hobs’ house and attacks on Lucy all come to a boil one night in Rogue’s apartment and everyone’s roles will be revealed by some surprising confessions. The pint-sized librarian just might have to save everyone including Rogue, Teddy and Mr. Hobs.
